The show is created by Natasha Lyonne, a game developer, Leslye Headland, and Amy Poehler. Also, the Russian doll directors are Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland along with Jamie Babbit.  

It is a comedy-drama with a pinch of mystery, and the show is dear to many viewers. The show has been nominated four times to Primetime Emmy Award Nominations thanks to its great storyline and love.

After watching season one of the Russian Doll to completion, you could feel the show is complete, and there is no chance for a second season. But NO. Leslye Headland said that they had pitched Netflix for three seasons, and the idea was well-received.

The show Russian doll is a story that revolves around Nadia Vulvokov, (Natasha Lyonne). She is a video game producer, who attends a party that seems inescapable as a guest of honor. During her 36th birthday party, Nadia is caught up in a time-loop where she repeatedly dies but wakes up to restart. 

After she wakes up, she tries to do is wrap her finger around what could be happening to her. Along the way, she encounters Alan Zaveri, a role portrayed by Charlie Barnett, who is stuck in the same situation. Later in the show, they discover that they are stuck in a video game reality zone, and the season ended with both of them held in different timelines.

Funs expect that Russian Doll season 2 will be more comical, mysterious, and full of twists and turns. Also, the story is anticipated to take a new turn. So far, there is no formal communication or update about the plotline, but fans should expect more entertainment. The show makers have opened up about making a second and third season but no details about the timeline.

The show makers hinted to an entirely new idea in Russian Doll season 2. They further said that it was their mission to make the first season feel complete, and their plan hit home. Most people think that season one is over and that chances of a second season let alone third are slim. But, behold as two more seasons will hit Netflix screens soon.

The TV series Russian Doll featuring Natasha Lyonne and Charlie Barnett will be airing a second season. The Russian Doll season two was confirmed in an announcement in June 2019, although the official date of release is not yet known. 

Fans are eagerly waiting for it, but they have to wait a little longer. Expectations were high for the second run to happen in 2020, but considering the common disturbance by the COVIS-19 pandemic, it might take more time, and the hope is now shifted to 2021. According to Production Weekly, filming took off in May 2020.

Lyonne spoke to THR, and she thinks that the Russian Doll was successful because the Nadia character has a clear sense of why such things happen to her. The story is backed by a lived experience that makes the story more of reality even though they are floating in space. 

From the above perspective, Lyonne feels she had enormous ideas to continue the show, making it more exciting and worth watching. She thinks that she will also be learning along with the audience. She also believes that admitting brokenness is a silver lining to acceptance and self-development. Don’t be left out in life or fail to participate in different events but have the freedom to join as the real you.

Conclusion

Although the first season of the Russian Doll felt complete, not by a long shot, fans should expect a second and third season of the series in 2021. The filming has already begun, and chances of the show premiering in 2021 are high.
